Salt Lake County Health Order
Your child has a built-in exemption from wearing a mask.
If your child cannot wear a mask due to a "medical condition, mental health condition, or intellectual or developmental disability," they are already exempt under the Salt Lake County health order.
Such conditions may include mask-induced anxiety, depression, headaches, dizziness, difficulty breathing, claustrophobia, skin irritation, excessive sweating, difficulty concentrating, etc. This is not an all encompassing list, it is just a start to make you aware of your exemptions.
If you as a parent believe your child will experience mental or physical effects from wearing a N95 respirator or regular mask, your child is exempt and does not need to wear a face covering.
If you as a parent believe your child will experience mental or physical effects from wearing a N95 respirator or regular mask, your child is exempt and does not need to wear a face covering.
Furthermore, ALL children who have an IEP or 504 are EXEMPT from wearing any face covering per the new health order.
We suggest downloading the parent opt-out form and doing the following:
- Email the completed form to your principal.
- If possible, take your child to school and hand deliver the opt-out form to their teacher.
- Send a copy of the form with your child to school so they can show it when needed.
