Why is HB374 needed?

Read HB374 Here
Utah Parents are deeply concerned that materials portraying and depicting “sexually explicit conduct” as well as “sexual conduct” as defined in the Utah Criminal Code (UCA 76-5b-103 and 76-10-1201) are currently found in books and materials in K-12 schools throughout the state.

I hope you also review the Bible as there is an abundance of incest and rape contained within its pages that are far more harmful than anything on your anti “porn” list.

The Bible also isn't read in school.

There are laws that prohibit showing pornographic material to children and even punishable by law... then why would this be permissible in schools?

Some of the material found in Utah schools is very explicit... we're not talking about normal sex education. There's a link above with the "explicit warning" to see exactly what has been found in Utah schools.

School librarians are professionals (Master of Library and Information Science) and certified. They select material relevant to age groups. You are not qualified to decide what goes into a library. As well, many children are addicted to pornography from what they find on the World Wide Web. Librarians teach your children how to discern credible information. You are looking in the wrong direction.
