Salt Lake County Health Department issues a mask mandate for Salt Lake County effective tonight.. kslnewsradio.com/1962288

This will affect all schools in Salt Lake County school districts: Canyons, Granite, Murray, Jordan and Salt Lake City.

Everyone needs to text, email or call their Salt Lake County Council Representative to tell them to overturn the order IMMEDIATELY!

This cannot happen to our children again. They are not in need of a mask mandate. Please overturn this for our kids mental and physical health. My elementary school child is finally catching up in school and her bloody noses have finally slowed down from the last mandate. This is not what will solve this Covid issue.

I do covid tests and 100% positive cases were triple jabbed mask adherents and now have Covid.
Masks don’t stop a 1 micron virus from spreading.
Vax doesn’t stop transmission and infection.

The mask mandate is not about 'solving the COVID issue'. It is a layer of protection. It is one SMALL thing that can be done to reduce the spread of the new, more contagious variant.

Science would suggest, or rather has proved, that as a virus mutates, it gets weaker. To me it’s very interesting (insert conspiracy theory here), that a virus that has mutated for the 2nd time, is more contagious?? I’d also like to point out the fact that the CDC has no idea what previous Covid numbers were (admitted by the CDC), and that Covid tests are unreliable. I’d say it’s safe to assume knowing that, the likelihood that everyone has had exposure to the virus after 2 years is very high. Why are we still freaking out about this? Why are we still being driven by fear? What about natural immunity, does that science not matter? And to those who say “it’s 30 days”, I say, read up on nazi Germany, heck, research Austrailia. This isn’t about 30 days of mask wearing. This is truly about freedom.

Go look at the places with mask mandates. They aren’t doing any better. Cnn Dr. Wen says last week that those cloth masks don’t work. Fauci said in the beginning they don’t work. Nothing has changed. Those studies they try to use don’t even have a control group without masks to compare masked groups too. You’re being played. No respiratory disease has ever used masks for safety measures. Ever!

The Mask mandate is going to help. My children suffer wearing these face coverings for absolutely nothing.
They do not stop the spread or help stop the spread of anything. It only makes things worse.

No one is discussing O2 and CO2 issues when wearing masks. Masking children is detrimental to the emotional and social wellness, but first and foremost mandating a public with masking will do nothing because the past 2 years prove that this practice has NOT mitigated covid exposure. Neither does vaccines. Please don’t come on here and be a troll. This is tyrannical government overreach by an unelected official. We need to learn to live with covid at this point. Furthermore, omicron is not a dangerous variant and it is not uncommon for ICU to be full during cold and flu season. It is what it is, learn to live and let live.

I disagree with the mask mandate - it has been proven to interfere with cognitive learning skills- there have been numerous articles about this- my son was doing just fine in school and then the masks came out, and now he is struggling to catch up. I am against this.

Why is an organization like this that ostensibly exists to protect children oppose public health mandates? Have you seen the data? Of course, we need a mask mandate to protect our children and families. I support Dr. Angela Dunn and all science-based responses.

You’re completely wrong. Go look at states with mask mandates. They aren’t doing better. Canada never got rid of the mandate. They are locking down again. Israel is on vax number four. I don’t know what data you are seeing but real life shows you are wrong.

I just received a letter from the district saying that it is not just a mask mandate but they want the kids wear a respirator!
In order to mandate a respirator the person has to have a full physical exam and be certified by a physician that they are healthy enough to wear it. A respirator is for example a dust mask (N95). I know this because I am a doctor and I do such exams frequently. The employers send traveling nurses, construction workers, concrete workers to us and they pay for these exams because they know that per OSHA regulations they are obligated to do so. Even for a dust mask (N95) the employee has to also have a fit test, which is a test with an odorous substance to see how well the mask fit. We do not certify everybody. People with lung or heart issues should also have PFTs (pulmonary function tests) to see how well their lungs function. We give limited use certification or not certify at all, if they have abnormal PFTs. People with asthma for example usually do not certify well.
Your kids will have respirators on for over 6 hrs! That can be detrimental to their health.
I think the Health Department know that they cannot mandate respirators, but they strongly encourage them. Please, do not fall for this trap!

I signed the opt-out letter for my kid. The principal of the HS school she is attending (School for the Performing Arts / Highland) told me that he would "take a decision" on whether or not to grant her the exception. Plus she is getting bullied by other kids who are asking her to wear a mask. We MOVED here to escape the tyranny of DC schools (they are imposing vaccine mandates on the kids so I guess we still are "ahead") but would like to be able to fight this insane mask mandate (see a piece I wrote recently: https://dubitoergocogito.substack.com/p/time-to-get-rid-of-covid-mask-mandates). New to Utah so I'm not sure how to navigate the power play with the principal. Thanks!

As you can see the masks make NO difference (for OR against). It is all over the map.
FYI: sent an email to all the council. Hope they don't send the FBI :-)
